1300 Providers, which one is good?

cam gtp

I'm in the market for a new 1300 provider after my last one (dow royle) or NR  [Edit: for Neil Royle] on this forum, terminated my 1300 account.

My bank issued me with a new credit card number (victim of c/c fraud) and I e-mailed DW telling them that I'll do a direct deposit instead of C/C until I get things sorted. Unfortunately, DW kept on trying to charge my C/C and I ended up with a $45 fee for dishonouring the transaction. In their T&Cs they say they have the right to charge this dishonour fee. I have not heard of other providers doing this before so I thought I'd check with the TIO to verify this. Meanwhile I sent a couple of e-mails to DW telling them that I was checking with the TIO and I would continue to pay direct deposit for all the other service fees.

TIO came back to me and said to call DW directly to help resolve my queries.

After talking to DW, they offered to credit the $45 fee (thumbs up) and then gave me verbal notice to disconnect the account (thumbs down). When I asked why the disconnection, they said I was in default (non payment) and I had complained to the TIO.

I told them I had paid direct deposit the last couple of months, as they suggest to do on their invoices and I checked the payments had been received as indicated on their billing system. The only they I'd not paid was the $45 dishonour fee.

I asked them that why would you terminate a paying customer? They replied that I was (in my words) a difficult customer and I had complained to the TIO. They said that they have thousands of happy customers and there are only a few problem ones who they 'move on' to other providers. Then they suggested I should just 'move on'.

I was basically in shock from what they were saying. They said I was acting 'fraudulently' by suppling a credit card which could not be processed. I told them I had sent an email advising I would pay direct deposit. They claimed they had not received it and I was only telling my said of the story. Despite this, when I tried to explain that I am a paying customer and I had been paying every month, they replied, we don’t want your business, go to someone else.

So that is exactly what I am doing, if anyone can recommend a good provider, not necessary the cheapest, but good 'all rounder', I’m keen to know who you have been happy with.

p.s. Im expecting a reply from NR with at least his side of the story. I also expect to be shot down with a fresh batch of 'im such a bad customer' accusations.

After I was terminated by Dow Royle for complaing to the TIO, I was curious as to their claim of thousands of happy customers . . . so I went in search for some and found this:

at <link deleted>

"We advertise extensively across the interned including Yellow Pages Online, <link deleted>plus Google Adword campaigns. To our utter amazement we soon discovered our most expensive Yellow Pages advert was a dud but our HitCity listing was pulling a huge response. Thanks to our 1300 campaign numbers, we have saved $1000's in potentially wasted advertising. Thanks a million TelcoWorx."

The address for TelcoWorx is the same as dowroyle which is the same as hitcity <link deleted>

It's good to see that I found one of the thousands of happy customers that Dow Royle speak of . . . . . . . . or are they giving themselves a pat on their own back.

This shonky business provides 1800 and 1300 numbers.

They will illegally charge your credit card with a monthly fee of $35.

They will then refuse to refund you even when you explain to them there is NO MONTHLY CHARGE for their "Startup Plan".

You will then have to go to your Bank and ask for a "Chargeback".

Other people on Whirlpool always complain about them too:

Very shonky operation!

They have no "Customer Service" to speak of; the operation is run by 2 people - a young, 18 year old Receptionist and a 24-year-old or so guy calling himself "Brad, the General Manager".

This business has many names. They also advertise as:

Be very, very careful with giving a bank account or credit card number to these people.    [ie LOADED GUN -RM]

Once they have it, you will have to cancel your cards.
